My Freebie Via Lemon Squeezy Plus Tips to Choose the Best Payment Platform for Digital Products

I’m testing Lemon Squeezy’s platform
so YOU don’t have to!

Say hello to the Lemon Squeezy!

Lemon Squeezy is the all-in-one platform for selling digital products, subscriptions, software licenses, and courses. Much like Payhip and Gumroad, it is a payment platform for online businesses to securely sell their digital products.

Stripe has purchased Lemon Squeezy and it is under its banner of operations.

I wanted to use the best for Siteseroo’s Digital Shop, and I have some choices at this time: Lemon Squeezy, Payhip or Beacons.

Top 10 requirements for selecting which is best for Siteseroo’s Digital Store.

When choosing a payment platform for selling digital products, we should consider several key requirements to ensure we select the best one for our needs. Here are some essential factors to keep in mind:

1. Ease of Use

  • User-Friendly Interface: The platform should be easy to navigate for both sellers and buyers. A simple setup process for uploading and managing digital products is crucial.
  • Customization: Ability to customize the storefront, payment pages, and checkout process to align with your brand.

2. Payment Processing Options

  • Multiple Payment Methods: Support for various payment methods such as credit/debit cards, PayPal, and possibly cryptocurrency.
  • Global Reach: Ability to accept payments from different countries and handle multiple currencies.

3. Payouts and Fees

  • Transparent Fees: Clear information about transaction fees, currency conversion fees, and any additional costs.
  • Payout Flexibility: Options for payout frequency (daily, weekly, monthly) and methods (bank transfer, PayPal, etc.).
  • Minimum Payout Threshold: Check if there is a minimum amount required before you can withdraw funds.

4. Security and Compliance

  • Data Security: The platform should use encryption and other security measures to protect customer data.
  • Compliance: Ensure the platform complies with relevant regulations, such as GDPR for European customers.

5. Customer Support

  • Responsive Support: Availability of customer support through various channels like email, live chat, or phone.
  • Documentation: Access to comprehensive guides, FAQs, and tutorials to help you troubleshoot issues.

6. Digital Product Delivery

  • Instant Delivery: The platform should support instant delivery of digital products upon successful payment.
  • Download Limits and Expiry: Ability to set download limits and expiry dates for digital products to prevent unauthorized sharing.

7. Integration with Other Tools

  • Marketing Tools: Integration with email marketing platforms, CRM systems, and social media.
  • Analytics: Built-in analytics to track sales performance, customer behavior, and conversion rates.

8. Scalability

  • Growth Potential: The platform should support scaling your business, whether you’re selling a few products or a large catalog.
  • Subscription Models: If you offer memberships or subscriptions, ensure the platform supports recurring billing.

9. Refunds and Dispute Management

  • Easy Refund Process: The ability to issue refunds easily and manage customer disputes.
  • Chargeback Protection: Features to protect against fraudulent chargebacks.

10. Reputation and Community

  • User Reviews: Research reviews and testimonials from other digital marketers who have used the platform.
  • Community Support: Active user communities or forums where you can get advice and share experiences.

By focusing on these key aspects, digital marketers or online businesses can find an online platform that best suit their needs for selling digital products effectively and securely.

Now, to be fair, both Lemon Squeezy and Payhip positively fulfill all of the 10 requirements mentioned for choosing the best payment platform. Beacons is still the newbie among the three, but so far from my initial use, it meets most of the best requirements list.

For now, I am torn between both Payhip and Lemon Squeezy, as both are secured with lots of positive user feedback. Both of them have about the same affordable transactional fees which is the only reason I took Gumroad out of the options list as it has higher user fees.

Also, both platforms have features that are unique to each of them and are both useful for bloggers and digital marketers that offer digital products and meets what I need and want.

I have tested Payhip and all in all, it is okay. You can go here to see how it is.

On the other hand, I really like Lemon Squeezy’s payment listing. And it is operated by Stripe, and so it is secure and professionally built.

My digital product: Overcome the O’s Checklist Workbook Freebie will be listed on Lemon Squeezy once it approves my account and store.

For now, I’m leaning toward listing my digital products on Lemon Squeezy.

I’m still waiting for it to verify my account and so please wait until it is done so I can activate the payment button and see how it is.

For now, I will still post this blog post until further updates and the final evaluation and decision on which platform to use is completed.

[Update 9/3/24]: Lemon Squeezy has replied to my help ticket. And unfortunately, my country of residence is not supported by Stripe and they want their users to mainly use Stripe as its payment processor, not Paypal. And so, I can’t use them for now. How unfortunate for me!

And so I’m left with Payhip or Beacons as options on my list.

I’ve opened a store on Beacons and it is quick and easy to use. I like it. But, it is lacking in some features that I need.

I’m left with the conclusion that Payhip is the one for the Siteseroo Digital Shop at this time. You can read more info and demo here for the Payhip shop.

Regardless of my experience with Lemon Squeezy, most of you who are reading this will likely live in a country where Stripe is supported. And so I highly recommend it for selling your digital products. Check out Lemon Squeezy and sign up!
